Anas Shamsi

Dr. Anas Shamsi is an assistant research professor who leads the structure based drug design and discovery group at Centre of Medical and Bio-allied Health Sciences Research, Ajman University, UAE.

He specializes in computational biochemistry, protein folding, drug design and discovery, and therapeutic interventions for cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Shamsi holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Aligarh Muslim University, India, and has contributed to over 150 publications in high-impact journals, with more than 4500 citations. With a strong interest in emerging technologies, he actively explores the integration of artificial intelligence into drug discovery workflows, aiming to accelerate the development of novel therapeutics. Dr. Shamsi is a member of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) and American Chemical Society (ACS), and has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious medals for his bachelor's and national level postdoctoral fellowships. With expertise in both experimental and computational approaches, he has secured multiple competitive research grants and awards.

Imtaiyaz Hassan

Dr. Md. Imtaiyaz Hassan is a renowned structural biologist and drug discovery expert. With over 17 years of distinguished academic and research experience, Dr. Hassan has established himself as a prominent figure in biomedical sciences, with deep expertise in structural biology, protein folding, drug design, and kinase-targeted therapeutics. Prof. Hassan’s research portfolio reflects a profound commitment to the identification and validation of novel drug targets, particularly in the context of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. His groundbreaking work in structure-based drug design and protein-ligand interactions has significantly advanced the development of selective and potent protein kinase inhibitors. A prolific researcher, Dr. Hassan has authored over 600 peer-reviewed research articles in leading international journals. His work has garnered more than 22,000 citations, and his current h-index stands at an impressive 72, reflecting his global impact in the scientific community. He has led more than 22 funded research projects and continues to make meaningful contributions to cancer biology, structural biochemistry, and therapeutic innovation.

Moyad Shahwan

Dr. Moyad Shahwan is a professor of Clinical Biochemistry at Ajman University, UAE, with extensive expertise in biochemistry, drug design, molecular modeling, and the biochemical analysis of phytochemicals. He earned his PhD and MSc in Biochemistry from Aligarh University, India. Dr. Shahwan has published over 180 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and supervised more than 37 master's theses. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, including Ajman University's Best Researcher Award in 2021. As the Head of the Centre of Medical and Bio-Allied Health Sciences Research, Dr. Shahwan has led research initiatives and established new research groups and facilities. His deep expertise in clinical and biochemical research, particularly in diabetes mellitus and public health, makes him an invaluable editor for this book.

Belgin Sever

Dr. Belgin Sever is currently an associate professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Anadolu University. Her research is mainly focused on the development of anticancer, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, anti-HIV and anti-ALS drug candidates, especially based on medicinal chemistry and computational chemistry disciplines. She received her MSc and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Anadolu University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 2015 and 2019, respectively. After her PhD, she was accepted as a postdoctoral researcher of the Takeda Science Foundation International Fellowship Programme. During this time, she worked on anti-HIV drug development at Kumamoto University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Science Farm Joint Research Laboratory, Kumamoto, Japan.

Dr. Sever has received various awards, and has published many high quality articles in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals. She has served on various journal editorial boards, including as topic editor for the journals “Pharmaceuticals”, “Molecules” and “Life”.
