William Gustavo Sganzerla

William Sganzerla holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering (2015 – 2019) and a PhD in Food Engineering (2020 – 2023). Currently, he works as “Project Manager Biogas” at VORN Bioenergy GmbH (Regensburg, Germany) for the development of full-scale biomethane projects (agricultural and industrial) in Europe. His role include the development and management of new projects, from the initial project idea through to construction maturity, supporting the management board in strategic issues and contributing with creative ideas for the design of innovative biomethane projects. His expertise lies in the fields of techno-economic analysis, biomass pretreatment, anaerobic digestion, and bioenergy recovery. His research interests shifted towards the valorization of agri-food by-products for bioenergy production within the biorefinery concept. He is dedicated to proposing innovative and sustainable alternatives to produce bioenergy and value-added bioproducts from biomass by-products, focusing on anaerobic digestion. His research background brings a unique perspective to the task of pushing the boundaries of knowledge and exploring novel avenues that contribute to sustainable practices and the development of greener technologies. He has authored and published 85 papers in high-impact factor/peer-reviewed scientific journals, in addition to holding three patents in the field of by-products valorization.
