About the editors

Sunil Kumar

Sunil Kumar received his master’s degree in biotechnology from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, in 2006 and his PhD in biotechnology from the Department of Gastroenterology, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, in 2011. He completed postdoctoral training at Gangnam Severance Hospital, Yonsei University, South Korea, and later at the UNESCO Regional Centre for Biotechnology, India, where he worked on Salmonella-mediated alterations in host SUMOylation and infection biology. His research interests include infection biology and the molecular immunology of neurological diseases. He joined Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki, in 2013 as a founding faculty member of the Department of Biotechnology and currently serves as Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Biosciences. He has supervised numerous undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral research projects, with several students receiving national research fellowships. Kumar has authored more than forty peer-reviewed publications, ten book chapters, and edited five books with international publishers. He serves as associate editor for Current Molecular Pharmacology and Current Signal Transduction Therapy, and as a reviewer and editorial board member for multiple journals. His international collaborations span institutions in Serbia, Slovenia, and Portugal, as well as leading research centers in India. He is a life member of several scientific societies and an executive council member of the Society for Biotechnologists (India).

Muhammad Zaffar Hashmi

Dr. Muhammad Zaffar Hashmi is Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering in the Department of Chemistry, COMSATS University, Pakistan. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology from Zhejiang University, China. Dr. Hashmi’s research interests are analytical chemistry and the development of treatment technologies to control environmental and industrial pollution. He also has expertise in developing environmentally sustainable and feasible technologies including bioremediation, using innovative microbes and genes, plants, and microcosms. He has edited seven books, 14 book chapters, 80 original research articles and is currently series editor of two environmental contaminant book series. Dr. Hashmi is also an Associate Editor of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences. Dr. Hashmi is Member of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, International Toxicology Society, HEC and PSF Research Grants Committee, and has been awarded a KANS Prize in OIC countries by MUSTAFA Science and Technology Foundation.
