Description

Endoscopic Ultrasound in Pancreatic Diseases: Best Practices and Recent Innovations in Technology and Techniques provides step-by-step guidance, case studies, detailed images, and videos on advanced techniques in endoscopic ultrasonography for pancreatic diseases. Organized into four sections, the book reviews the latest advances in endoscopic ultrasound equipment, techniques, complications, safety measures in scanning methods, microbubbles and contrast harmonic imaging, elastography, and fine needle tissue acquisition. Tumor detection, characterization, and diagnosis is reviewed, and pancreatic diseases treatment and intervention methods are covered extensively.

The book concludes with the examination of groundbreaking methods and discussion of future directions. It fully equips endoscopists with the most recent developments in endoscopic ultrasound and is a vital resource for navigating the evolving landscape, enabling practitioners to excel in advanced clinical practices and contribute to the field’s growth.

Masayuki Kitano

Masayuki Kitano works as an executive director of Japan Pancreas Society and of Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine and Biology, and councilor of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology and of Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society. He has authored 310 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 8 book chapters. Dr Kitano developed a novel endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) system equipped with contrast harmonic imaging which allowed visualization of tissue microcirculation and reported role of EUS for diagnoses of pancreatobiliary and gastrointestinal diseases, particularly of small pancreatic cancers. By these works, he received the Ito Award and the Matsuo Award from Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine, and High Citation Award of Journal of Gastroenterology. Also, he served as primary investigator on several multicenter studies related to pancreatobiliary endoscopy.
