Description

Handbook of Endocannabinoid Function in the Central Nervous System, a new release in the Handbook of Behavioral Neuroscience series, offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach to understanding the role of the endocannabinoid system in functions of the central nervous system. This new volume brings together the most influential and internally recognized experts in the field to provide a detailed overview of the physiological and pathophysiological roles of endocannabinoids in CNS activity. It covers the history, functional anatomy, and neurophysiology of the endocannabinoid system, moving on to assess endocannabinoid roles across human lifespans, and in behavioral control.

Final sections of the book explore the use of endocannabinoids in psychiatric and neurological disorders. This is a vital resource for neuroscientists, neuropharmacologists, and neuropathologists, as well as any researcher seeking detailed discussions of brain endocannabinoid functions.

Key features

  • Presents a new volume in the Handbook of Behavioral Neuroscience series
  • Examines endocannabinoid use and function in psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and more
  • Assesses the use of endocannabinoids in treating mental disorders, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
  • Discusses preclinical to clinical levels of investigation
