About the editors

Mansoureh Togha

Dr. Togha has 25 years’ experience in academic teaching. She studied general medicine at Shiraz University and is board certified in neurology from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She is now a professor of neurology at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She teaches medical students and neurology residents and has received the Avicenna, Hakim Jorjani Award as one of the best university teachers in the field of education. Dr. Togha’s main clinical and research interests are diagnosis and management of headache and facial pain disorders. She has co-authored more than 140 articles and 5 neurology books so far, and is among the most highly cited neurologists in Iran. She is the founder and president of the Iranian Headache Society and the organizer of the headache fellowship in Iran. She is also the editor of the headache section of the Iranian Journal of Neurology. She is actively involved in several domestic and international professional associations, including the International Headache Association (IHS) and the European Headache Federation and has presented at many national and international conferences.

Elham Jafari

Dr Elham Jafari studied general medicine at Tehran University and was board certificated in neurology in 2011 by Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Sina Hospital. She is an active member and site administrator of the Iranian Headache Association. Dr. Jafari is especially interested in clinical and research work in the field of headache. She has presented in several national and international conferences in the field of headache.

Hossein Ansari

Dr. Ansari is Associate professor of Neuroscience and Director of Headache Clinic at the University of San Diego, California. He has been based at the University of California, San Diego since 2015 when he established the university’s Headache and Facial Pain Clinic. He now serves as director, alongside his appointment as an Associate Professor of Neuroscience and his teaching and patient care duties. In July 2020 Dr. Ansari joined the Kaizen Brain Center in La Jolla to develop a Headache Clinic and Facial Pain Clinic, and additionally expand the concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI) unit. Before his move to California, he created a multidisciplinary Headache Clinic at Neurology and Neuroscience Associates (NNA) in Akron Ohio, where he then served as Medical Director. He is actively involved in multiple domestic and international professional societies including the International Headache Society (IHS) and has presented in numerous national and international conferences.

Samaneh Haghighi

Dr. Samaneh Haghighi is an assistant professor of neurology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Sina Hospital. She is a board-certified neurologist and completed an epilepsy fellowship at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. She is an active member of the Iranian Headache Association and has presented at several national and international conferences in the field of headache. In 2018, Dr. Haghighi was executive secretary of the 6th European Headache Federation School of Advanced Studies (EHF-SAS) Headache School.

Seyed Ehsan Mohammadianinejad

Dr. Mohammadianinejad is an associate professor of neurology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and researcher at the research center of Imam Khomeini Hospital. He was board certified in neurology in 1999 and completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis in 2017. Dr. Mohammadianinejad has been an active member of the Iranian Headache Society (IHS) for the last six years, working on scientific activities in collaboration with colleagues in the society. He has also been a lecturer and/or active participant at several national and international headache meetings and symposiums. His special interests are in the areas of headache and multiple sclerosis, and he has published several articles in collaboration with colleagues in peer-reviewed journals.
