Emilia Szymańska

Dr. Emilia Szymańska is a postdoctoral researcher and a member of research group in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology at Medical University of Bialystok, Poland. She received her doctorate in pharmaceutical science in the research area of chitosan carriers as smart platforms for local delivery of antimicrobial agents. Her main research interests address process optimization and characterization of biopolymer-based delivery systems for microbicide agents and application of nanotechnology in the pharmaceutical field. At present, she leads research projects related to investigation the permeability profile of water-soluble and poorly water-soluble active agents across human and animal mucosal epithelium

Giuseppe Cavallaro

Dr. Giuseppe Cavallaro is an Assistant Professor at Department of Physics and Chemistry “E. Segrè” of University of Palermo, Italy. He was a Research Associate at the Institute of Micromanifacturing, Louisiana Tech University, USA, and Institut fur Chemie, Technische Universitat Berlin, Germany. He is the author of more than 120 publications in peer reviewed international journals. He is Editor of the book “Clay Nanoparticles: Properties and Applications – 1st Edition” by Giuseppe Cavallaro, Rawil Fakhrullin, Pooria Pasbakhsh (Publisher: Elsevier). His research activity is mainly focused on the physico-chemical characterization of nano-organized systems based on nanoclays and organic macromolecules, such as biopolymers and surfactants.
