About the editors

Yu Chen

Dr. Yu Chen is Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China. He is guest editor of the Current Organic Chemistry journal, and an editorial board member for the Trauma & Emergency Care journal. Dr. Chen is a council member of the Youth Committee of the China Materials Research Society. Dr. Yu Chen’s research interests are focused on chemical modification of natural polymers including chitosan, alginate and cellulose, etc., and their applications in the field of biomedical materials. He has worked on developing an application of wound dressing based on natural polymers for the purpose of hemostasis and anti-microbial properties. Dr. Chen and his group have published more than 60 papers in this field, acquired 16 patents, published 3 review papers and 2 books, and written 5 chapters in published monographs. In 2017, he edited a special issue of Current Organic Chemistry, named ‘Medical Materials from Chitosan, Design, Synthesis, Functionalization and Applications’. He also worked as lead editor on a book on click chemistry, published in 2017

Liang Huaping

Liang Huaping is the researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Third Military Medical University. He was awarded as the 5th National Excellent Science and Technology Worker of China and the Academic & Technological Leader of Chongqing City, Received the 2nd Chongqing Youth Science and Technology Award. He has engaged in research on strategies for the prevention and treatment of infection, inflammation, immune regulation, and complications in war trauma. He is the director of the national major research project of polyimide medical dressings. He has undertaken more than 30 projects including the National 863 Project and the National Natural Science Foundation of China; published 6 monographs by the editor in chief/deputy editor in chief; published over 400 papers; received 3 national scientific and technological progress awards. He served as the vice chairman of the Emergency Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and the editorial board member of the Chinese Journal of Surgery.

ZZ

Zhou Zhongfu

Zhou Zhongfu is a research professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Aberdeen in the UK and a distinguished professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai University. He holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Physics and Chemistry from Beijing University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from Oxford University. He has studied and worked at Cambridge, Oxford, Cardiff University, and Aberdeen University in the UK for 20 years, and have been engaged in materials field learning and related research for over 30 years. His research field is Organic Inorganic Composite Functional Materials. He has published more than 70 articles, applied for more than 60 domestic and foreign patents, led and participated in dozens of Chinese and British government funded projects, national strategic projects, and enterprise cooperation projects, and extensively carried out industry university research project cooperation.
