Luca Maria Gambardella is a renowned academic and researcher in the field of artificial intelligence, currently serving as the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Corporate Relations at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano. With a PhD in Engineering Sciences and Technology, he holds the position of Full Professor at USI’s Faculty of Computer Science and directs the Artificial Intelligence Master program. As a co-founder and CTO of Artificialy SA, he leads advancements in applied AI. Over his distinguished career, Gambardella has directed significant research initiatives, securing over 16 million CHF in funding. He has published more than 330 papers, garnering over 56,000 citations. His research interests encompass meta-heuristics, swarm intelligence, and robotics, contributing to numerous patents and accolades, including leadership roles in prestigious organizations and panels. Dr. Dimitrios Kalogeropoulos is Chief Executive at the Global Health Digital Innovation Foundation, UK, and Health Executive in Residence at UCL Global Business School for Health. With over 30 years of experience in health governance and digital innovation, he holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. He has advised organizations like the World Bank, WHO, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on health, technology, and governance. A pioneer in applying AI to systems medicine, he contributed to initiatives such as Healthy China 2030 and the EU AI Act. He is involved in developing ethical AI standards and promotes societal value in AI applications. Dr. Kalogeropoulos chairs IEEE programs on AI for Public Health and Climate-Resilient Systems, and advises startups and global organizations on digital transformation. A recognized leader, he advocates for innovation, equity, and sustainability in global health.
