Sughosh Madhav

Dr. Sughosh Madhav works as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Civil Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He has obtained his master’s degree from the Department of Environmental Science Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. He earned his doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. The area of his doctoral research is the environmental impact of textile effluents on groundwater and soil quality. He has published various research papers and book chapters in environmental geochemistry, water pollution, and wastewater remediation. He also edited 4 books related to water resource management in Elsevier, Springer, and Wiley publications.

Sylvester Chibueze Izah

Dr. Sylvester C. Izah is a public health and environmental microbiology scholar at Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa, Nigeria, where he also serves as Assistant Director of Academic Planning, Research, and Innovations. He holds dual Ph.D. degrees in Public Health and in Applied Microbiology and Environmental Health, along with an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Niger Delta University, Nigeria. He is a licensed environmental health specialist in Nigeria. Dr. Izah’s research centers on environmental contaminants and their implications for food safety, human health, and sustainable food systems. His expertise includes heavy metal contamination of soil, water, and food matrices; exposure pathways and toxicological risk assessment; environmental microbiology; sanitation and waste management; and One Health–based sustainability frameworks. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications and edited or contributed to books with leading publishers bringing a strong global perspective to this volume.

Eric D. van Hullebusch

Eric D. van Hullebusch is a Full Professor in Biogeochemistry of Engineered Ecosystems at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, Université Paris Cité, France. He holds a Ph.D. in Aquatic Chemistry and Microbiology from Université de Limoges. After a Marie Curie fellowship at Wageningen University & Research, where he worked on optimizing anaerobic sludge reactorswith respect to trace metal speciation and bioavailability, he was appointed Associate Professor in 2005 at Université Gustave Eiffel. A very prolific researcher and author, his key interests lie in the biogeochemistry of metals and metalloids in engineered systems, pollutant remediation, and circular resource recovery through biohydrometallurgical techniques. He is especially focused on sustainable strategies for waste treatment, soil remediation, and recovering technology-critical elements from agricultural and industrial wastes.
