Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology
An International Journal of Comparative ImmunologyThe journal reports basic, comparative and clinical immunology as they pertain to the animal species designated here: livestock, poultry, and fish species that are major food animals and companion animals such as cats, dogs, horses and camels, and wildlife species that act as reservoirs for food, companion or human infectious diseases, or as models for human disease.Rodent models of infectious diseases that are of importance in the animal species indicated above,when the disease requires a level of containment that is not readily available for larger animal experimentation (ABSL3), will be considered. Papers on rabbits, lizards, guinea pigs, badgers, armadillos, elephants, antelope, and buffalo will be reviewed if the research advances our fundamental understanding of immunology, or if they act as a reservoir of infectious disease for the primary animal species designated above, or for humans. Manuscripts employing other species will be reviewed if justified as fitting into the categories above.The following topics are appropriate: biology of cells and mechanisms of the immune system, immunochemistry, immunodeficiencies, immunodiagnosis, immunogenetics, immunopathology, immunology of infectious disease and tumors, immunoprophylaxis including vaccine development and delivery, immunological aspects of pregnancy including passive immunity, autoimmuity, neuroimmunology, and transplanatation immunology. Manuscripts that describe new genes and development of tools such as monoclonal antibodies are also of interest when part of a larger biological study. Studies employing extracts or constituents (plant extracts, feed additives or microbiome) must be sufficiently defined to be reproduced in other laboratories and also provide evidence for possible mechanisms and not simply show an effect on the immune system.Ideas and suggestions for Special Issues are also welcome. These may focus on a planned conference/symposium for which a selection of the best papers could be published together (after peer review). Alternatively, they could consist of a group of invited papers which together present an up-to-date overview on an important immunological topic.- ISSN: 0165-2427
Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (JAND) is the official research publication of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The purpose, expressed in the mission statement, is to be "the premier peer-reviewed journal in the field of food, nutrition, and dietetics." JAND is published in both print and electronic formats and publishes pre-proof and Articles in Press (articles posted on JAND's website before the print version). Submission to JAND is open to all individuals in the food, nutrition, and dietetics profession as well as allied health fields. JAND publishes manuscripts that advance knowledge across a wide range of research and practice issues in nutrition and dietetics. Evidence-based contributions of original research; focused meta-analyses of cohort and randomized clinical trials; systematic reviews; and innovative research applications are welcome. Topics include foods and nutrients and their implications in health and disease; dietary patterns and dietary interventions; nutritional science, nutrigenomics, and medical nutrition therapy; translational research; dietetics practice and public health; nutrition epidemiology and bio-statistical applications in nutrition research; foodservice systems; leadership and management in food and nutrition systems and application to public policy; and medical nutrition and dietetics education. Food science and biotechnology submissions are welcome providing there is application to human health with relevance for dietitians. International contributions on global topics of nutrition interest are also welcome, providing there is relevance to the largely US readership and findings are placed within that context. Major trends that impact research and practice in the fields of food, nutrition, and dietetics may also be considered if placed in appropriate contexts for JAND 's readership (eg, population demographic transitions, environmental trends, health care advancements). JAND does not publish market research studies; studies that lack testable hypotheses or measurable objectives; studies that use un-validated scientific methods; sections from theses or dissertations unless systematic and rigorous in their design. JAND does not publish animal studies, studies lacking scientific rigor and quality control, studies without a control group when indicated by study design, or studies with random findings or author opinions. Abstracts that were presented at a scientific meeting do not preclude a manuscript from consideration for publication. Reviewing and closely following the guidelines will facilitate the review of your manuscript and save time for authors and reviewers. JAND follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations for clinical trial registration and requires registration of all clinical trial studies that began after January 1, 2011. The ICMJE requires registration of clinical trials in a public trials registry at or before the time of first patient enrollment as a condition of consideration for publication. According to the ICMJE, a clinical trial is defined as "any research project that prospectively assigns people or a group of people to an intervention, with or without concurrent comparison or control groups, to study the cause-and-effect relationship between a health-related intervention and a health outcome. Health-related interventions are those used to modify a biomedical or health-related outcome; examples include drugs, surgical procedures, devices, behavioral treatments, educational programs, dietary interventions, quality improvement interventions, and process-of-care changes. Secondary data analyses of primary (parent) clinical trials should not be registered as separate clinical trials, but instead reference the trial registration number of the primary trial in the manuscript text. Please report the trial registration number (TRN) and the website where the clinical trial is registered on the author page when submitting an article. It is a midwifery journal that publishes on all matters relating to pregnancy, birth, and the first six weeks post-partum. All papers must draw from, and contribute to, the relevant contemporary research, policy and/or theoretical literature. We focus on primary research papers, systematic reviews and research-informed and critiqued discussion papers. We are particularly interested in the impact to the midwifes and/or midwifery on these topic areas.Our Editorial Board is multi-national and we welcome papers from all over the world. All papers should reflect our global perspective and reach. Articles are double blind peer-reviewed by experts in the field of the submitted work.Our woman-centred focus is inclusive of the partner, wider family, fetus and newborn, and covers both healthy and complex pregnancies and births. We recognise that individuals have diverse gender identities. Terms such as pregnant person, childbearing people and parent can be used to avoid gendering birth, and those who give birth, as feminine. However, because women are also marginalised and oppressed in most places around the world, we support use of the terms woman, mother or maternity. When we use these words, it is not meant to exclude those who give birth and do not identify as women. The journal seeks papers that take a woman-centred focus on midwifery practice, research, theory, education, management and leadership, maternity service provision, maternal and newborn health, respectful maternity care, breastfeeding, primary health care and relevant aspects of psychology, sociology, human rights and health economics. We welcome papers from all professional disciplines that are relevant to midwifery practice and the scope of the journal.Women and Birth cannot consider papers that have a primary focus on gynaecological surgery, gynaecological oncology, surgical techniques (e.g. Caesarean section surgical approaches), pharmacological studies unless directly relevant to midwifery practice, infertility research or detailed IVF techniques or success rates. We also do not consider case reports or papers that are about the development of survey tools through validation studies.
