Radiation Physics and Chemistry
The Journal for Radiation Physics, Radiation Chemistry and Radiation Processing A multidisciplinary journal linking science and industryRadiation Physics and Chemistry is a multidisciplinary journal that provides a medium for publication of substantial and original papers, reviews, and short communications which focus on research and developments involving ionizing radiation in radiation physics, radiation chemistry and radiation processing.Radiation Physics and Chemistry aims to publish articles with significance to an international audience, containing substantial novelty and contributions to science. We expect that articles present new insight or hypothesis testing, that they focus on radiation effects or applications of ionizing radiation, provide uncertainties and statistical analysis where relevant, and present their findings in context with discussion of past and recent literature. The editors reserve the right to reject, with or without external review, articles which do not meet these criteria. This could include articles which are very similar to previous publications, except that target substrates, materials, analyzed sites or experimental methods have been changed.A fuller though not exhaustive list of topics that are considered for publication include:Radiation PhysicsFundamental processes in radiation physics Interaction mechanisms for example scattering and absorption of photon and particle radiations Attenuation coefficients X-ray fluorescence Cherenkov effect Polarization Effects of periodic structures (Bragg diffraction, channelling, parametric x-radiation, etc)Mathematical methods in radiation physics, reference dataRadiation sources and detectors Accelerator and radionuclide spectra and other properties Radiation fields from point and extended sources Detector response functions Basic physics of Dosimetry Radiation transport Buildup factorsRadiation ChemistryIonizing radiation induced ionic and radical reactions Kinetics and mechanism of radiolysis reactions Pulse radiolysis technique and measurements Nanoparticle production by ionizing radiation Radiation induced chain reactions, polymerization Irradiation effects on polymers Dose and dose rate effects LET effects on chemical reactions Pollutant removal by ionizing radiation Computational models on radiation chemical reactionsPapers on photochemistry, microwave chemistry and thermochemistry are believed to belong to the scope of RPC only if they have strong relevance to radiation chemistry. EPR papers will only be considered for publication when the method is used for clarifying radiation chemical processes, e.g. by determining the nature of the transient intermediates. Radiochemistry papers such as tracer technique, radon or other radionuclide measurements, isotopic constitutions fall outside the scope of the journal.Radiation ProcessingRadiation Sterilization Microbiology Toxicology Biocompatibility ValidationFood irradiation Microbiological quality Chemical effects Nutrition Detection induced radioactivityPolymer... Epilepsy Research
Epilepsy Research provides for publication of high quality articles in both basic and clinical epilepsy research, with a special emphasis on translational research that ultimately relates to epilepsy as a human condition. The journal is intended to provide a forum for reporting the best and most rigorous epilepsy research from all disciplines ranging from biophysics and molecular biology to epidemiological and psychosocial research. As such the journal will publish original papers relevant to epilepsy from any scientific discipline and also studies of a multidisciplinary nature. Clinical and experimental research papers adopting fresh conceptual approaches to the study of epilepsy and its treatment are encouraged. The overriding criteria for publication are novelty, significant clinical or experimental relevance, and interest to a multidisciplinary audience in the broad arena of epilepsy. Review articles focused on any topic of epilepsy research will also be considered, but only if they present an exceptionally clear synthesis of current knowledge and future directions of a research area, based on a critical assessment of the available data or on hypotheses that are likely to stimulate more critical thinking and further advances in an area of epilepsy research.- ISSN: 0920-1211

Cognition
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).- ISSN: 0010-0277

Phytochemistry is a leading international journal publishing studies of plant and plant related organisms (eg. epiphytic/symbiotic micro-organisms), marine organisms, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, structure and bioactivities of phytochemicals, including '-omics', bioinformatics/compu... biology approaches and human related biotransformation of natural specialised metabolites and chemical ecology.Phytochemist... is a primary source for papers dealing with phytochemicals, especially reports concerning their biosynthesis, regulation, and biological properties both in planta and as bioactive principles. Articles are published online as soon as possible as Articles-in-Press and in 12 volumes per year. Occasional topic-focused special issues are published composed of papers from invited authors.Article typesFull papers are original research papers reporting new discoveries that lead to a deeper understanding of any aspect of plants covered by the journal. Full papers are invited in the following sections, but these are not exclusive.Chemistry and Bioactive Products contains papers on structural elucidation of previously undescribed specialised metabolites, including studies that elucidate their role and mode of action in pharmacological, medical or therapeutic use, plausible biosynthetic pathways. Studies of the biological activity of known compounds will only be considered when they add significant insight to the way in which the biological action of the metabolites is manifest.Molecular Genetics and Genomics contains papers which demonstrate novelty and/or biological significance in relation to all aspects of gene structure and expression, and their role in plant function, regulation, comparative genomics, and reconstitution of biochemical pathways. This section may also contain studies of genetically modified plants that have been analysed for changes in their profiles of phytochemical production. Manuscripts presenting solely computational studies of gene functions will only be considered when they add substantive evidence of the focal gene functions and/or their role in planta.Protein Biochemistry and Proteomics contains reports on proteins from plants and plant related organisms, including their purification directly from the organism or as a result of heterologous expression. This section includes studies of the macromolecular structure of proteins, protein function, enzyme mechanism, and proteomics, including in relation to changed genetics, environment or metabolism.Metabolis... and Metabolomics contains papers reporting new discoveries in all aspects of plant metabolism, both primary (general) and specialised (secondary). Contributions are encouraged that report the experimental elucidation of metabolic pathways, metabolic regulation, or the biosynthesis and roles of macromolecules. Reports improving our understanding of how phytochemicals act in planta are particularly welcomed, as are studies of transgenic organisms or of metabolic variation.Reviews are an authoritative and timely overview in a defined area and are intended to catch the interest of the general reader. A Review is a critical analysis of the current state of knowledge, pointing out strengths and weaknesses, weighing the significance of the studies conducted, how these fit into the more general subject area, and what are the key areas for further work. Authors should consult the Editor-in-Chief before preparing such articles.Molecules of Interest are short, focused reviews (3-5 printed pages) of individual compounds or macromolecules that are currently attracting extremely significant applied, commercial or biological interest.
