Physiology & Behavior
Physiology & Behavior is aimed at the causal physiological mechanisms of behavior and its modulation by environmental factors. The journal invites original reports in the broad area of behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, where the interaction of physiology and behavior is the prerequisite for all published material. The range of subjects includes behavioral neuroendocrinology, psychoneuroimmunolog... learning and memory, ingestion, taste, social behavior, exercise (as it relates to behavior), studies related to the mechanisms of psychopathology and studies using animal models with the purpose of translating the findings to humans. Purely pharmacological studies (either using natural compounds or synthetic chemicals), studies on improving human performance beyond physiological adaptations, or studies on improving livestock production are not in the focus of the Journal. We also welcome contemporary reviews and theoretical articles, and the Editors invite such proposals from interested authors. Thematic issues and more comprehensive studies are also considered for publication, subject to the same review standards and process. All articles will be published in English.- ISSN: 0031-9384

Vision Research
An International Journal for Functional Aspects of VisionVision Research is a journal devoted to the functional aspects of human, vertebrate and invertebrate vision and publishes experimental and observational studies, reviews, and theoretical and computational analyses. Vision Research also publishes clinical studies relevant to normal visual function and basic research relevant to visual dysfunction or its clinical investigation. Functional aspects of vision is interpreted broadly, ranging from molecular and cellular function, to perception and behavior. Detailed descriptions are encouraged but enough introductory background should be included for non-specialists. Theoretical and computational papers should give a sense of order to the facts or point to new verifiable observations. Papers dealing with questions in the history of vision science should stress the development of ideas in the field.Vision Research publishes both reviews and minireviews. A minireview is not intended to be a comprehensive overview, but rather a survey of recent developments in a fast-growing and active area of vision research. Reviews and minireviews are generally invited, but proposals for either may also be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief.Visi... Research welcomes Letters to the Editor in response to articles published in the journal. A Letter considered for publication is sent out for review and at the same time forwarded to the author or authors of the published article. If the Letter is editorially accepted, the original authors are invited to write a prompt reply, which the reviewers of the Letter are also asked to review.Vision Research publishes thematic Special Issues covering well-defined and timely research topics. Special Issues are usually edited by Guest Editors with one or more members of the Editorial Board. Proposals for Special Issues should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief or a member of the Board. Papers from special non-recurrent symposia may also be published in Vision Research and symposium organizers are encouraged to approach the Editor-in-Chief if interested.Vision Research does not routinely publish methods papers, however will consider submissions in which methods are tested and validated on real data, and the results give insight into visual function or its description.- ISSN: 0042-6989

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Structure, Function and InteractionsThe International Journal of Biological Macromolecules is an established international journal of research into chemical and biological aspects of all natural macromolecules. It presents the latest findings of studies on the molecular structure and properties of proteins, macromolecular carbohydrates, glycoproteins, proteoglycans, lignins, biological poly-acids, and nucleic acids. These findings must be new and novel rather than a repeat of earlier or analogous published work. The scope includes biological activities and interactions, molecular associations, chemical and biological modifications, and functional properties. Papers on related model systems, structural conformational studies, theoretical developments and new analytical techniques are also welcome. All papers are required to focus primarily on at least one named biological macromolecule. This naming should appear in the title, the abstract and the text of the paper.Examples of papers which are not appropriate for International Journal of Biological Macromolecules include: Papers in which the biological macromolecule has not been characterized by modern analytical techniques (including molecular weight) rather than historical methods, e.g. colorimetric assaysPapers that focus on biological, physiological and pharmacological aspects of non-macromolecules attached to, or mixed with, biological macromoleculesPapers on the materials science of biocomposites in which there is no mention of any specific biological macromoleculePapers in which the structure or role of the biological macromolecule is not the major proportion of the studyRoutine studies of extraction of macromolecules without purification and characterization of the extracted moleculeApplications of macromolecules in which the structure of the macromolecule is completely unknownPapers in which the molecular weight of the biological molecule is less than five thousandPapers that are majorly about clinical studies and animal trials, in which a biological macromolecule is not the biologically active agent and/or the biological macromolecule is not the major focus of the studyPapers that focus on genes and genomes with the respective data analysis (including bioinformatics and phylogenetic analyses) without the investigation of the molecular structure of the biological macromolecule and the direct evidence of its biological function- ISSN: 0141-8130

Journal of Genetics and Genomics
Journal of Genetics and Genomics (JGG), founded in 1974 and previously known as Acta Genetica Sinica, is an international journal publishing peer-reviewed articles of novel and significant discoveries in all areas of biology and biomedicine.JGG publishes papers reporting findings of general interest that provide significant insights into important biological processes in any living organisms, from microbes to plants, animals, and humans. The primary criterion for publication in JGG is whether the results report novel discoveries, mechanistic insights, or new technologies/tools and resources. In addition to research articles, we also publish reviews or opinion articles on recent cutting-edge studies and advances. We also welcome fast-track papers and presubmission inquiry.- ISSN: 1673-8527

Veterinary Microbiology
Veterinary Microbiology is concerned with bacterial and viral diseases of domesticated vertebrate animals (livestock, companion animals, fur-bearing animals, game, poultry, but excluding fish) that supply food, other useful products or companionship. In addition, Microbial diseases of wild animals living in captivity, or as members of the feral fauna will also be considered if the infections are of interest because of their interrelation with humans (zoonoses) and/or domestic animals. Studies of antimicrobial resistance are also included, provided that the results represent a substantial advance in knowledge. Authors are strongly encouraged to read - prior to submission - the Editorials ('Scope or cope' and 'Scope or cope II') published previously in the journal. The Editors reserve the right to suggest submission to another journal for those papers which they feel would be more appropriate for consideration by that journal.Original research papers of high quality and novelty on aspects of control, host response, molecular biology, pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment of microbial diseases of animals are published. Papers dealing primarily with immunology, epidemiology, molecular biology and antiviral or microbial agents will only be considered if they demonstrate a clear impact on a disease. Papers focusing solely on diagnostic techniques (such as another PCR protocol or ELISA) will not be published - focus should be on a microorganism and not on a particular technique. Papers only reporting microbial sequences, metagenomics data, transcriptomics data, or proteomics data will not be considered unless the results represent a substantial advance in knowledge related to microbial disease.Drug trial papers will be considered if they have general application or significance. Papers on the identification of microorganisms will also be considered, but detailed taxonomic studies do not fall within the scope of the journal. Case reports will not be published, unless they have general application or contain novel aspects. Papers of geographically limited interest, which repeat what had been established elsewhere will not be considered. The readership of the journal is global.Papers will be rejected if standards of care of, or procedures performed on animals are not up to those expected of humane veterinary scientists. At a minimum, standards must meet the International Guiding Principles for Biomedical Research involving Animals, as issued by the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences. (C.I.O.M.S., c/o WHO, CH 1211 Geneva 27, Switzerland.- ISSN: 0378-1135
