  • Games and Economic Behavior

    • ISSN: 0899-8256
Games and Economic Behavior (GEB) is a general-interest journal devoted to the advancement of game theory and its applications. Game theory applications cover a wide range of subjects in social, behavioral, mathematical and biological sciences, and game theoretic methodologies draw on a large variety of tools from those sciences.Publication criteria: GEB publishes general-interest papers that significantly advance the frontiers of game theory and its applications. This is a high bar, but the journal's editors are open-minded about the interpretations and trade-offs involved. For example, a paper in industrial organization that deals with corporate takeover might be of general game-theoretic interest if it contributes to our understanding of coalition formation. Similarly, the analysis of games played by computer algorithms might be relevant to modeling strategic thinking. The editors are also open-minded about the frontiers. They are happy to publish papers that, while not in currently popular areas, lead to significant new frontiers in game theory and applications. Authors are therefore encouraged to make a clear case, in the paper itself, that it meets these publication criteria. Evaluation procedure: Each paper is initially assigned by GEB's chief editor to one of the seven editors (including himself), who has final decision authority. In determining their decisions, editors consult with advisory editors and reviewers who are anonymous to the authors. The assigned editor then (non-anonymously) communicates her/his decision to the corresponding author in a decision letter, usually accompanied by one or more referees' and/or advisory editors' reports. Currently GEB publishes about 15% of the submitted papers. However, when editors decide that a submitted paper does not have a chance of meeting the journal publication criterion, they "desk-reject" the paper without going through the standard, lengthy evaluation process. About one third of the submitted papers are desk-rejected.In case of questions regarding Games and Economic Behavior or a submission, please contact [email protected].
  • Mathematical Social Sciences

    • ISSN: 0165-4896
The international, interdisciplinary journal Mathematical Social Sciences publishes original research articles, survey papers, short notes and book reviews. The journal emphasizes the unity of mathematical modelling in economics, psychology, political sciences, sociology and other social sciences.Topics of particular interest include the fundamental aspects of choice, information, and preferences (decision science) and of interaction (game theory and economic theory), the measurement of utility, welfare and inequality, the formal theories of justice and implementation, voting rules, cooperative games, fair division, cost allocation, bargaining, matching, social networks, and evolutionary and other dynamics models.Papers published by the journal are mathematically rigorous but no bounds, from above or from below, limits their technical level. All mathematical techniques may be used. The articles should be self-contained and readable by social scientists trained in mathematics.
  • Cognition

    • ISSN: 0010-0277
International Journal of Cognitive ScienceCognition is an international journal that publishes theoretical and experimental papers on the study of the mind. It covers a wide variety of subjects concerning all the different aspects of cognition, ranging from experimental studies of behavior and of the brain to formal analysis.Papers will be selected on the basis of their scientific quality, their degree of innovation and their unambiguous theoretical advance to the study of cognition. Paper's overall soundness of the argument and degree of empirical motivation, especially from converging sources, are more important than adherence to specific methodological principles. Studies that selectively focus on the cognitive and neural mechanisms that underlie problems with cognition in clinical populations or on purely methodological questions fall outside the scope of Cognition. Because Cognition enjoys a wide readership from many disciplines, authors should explicitly consider the general theoretical issues raised by their work and its relevance to other topics and methods. Materials should describe work done and methods used in a clear and explicit manner (allowing reproduction of the methods by others).
  • The Extractive Industries and Society

  • Computers & Fluids

    • ISSN: 0045-7930
Computers & Fluids is multidisciplinary. The term 'fluid' is interpreted in the broadest sense. Hydro- and aerodynamics, high-speed and physical gas dynamics, turbulence and flow stability, multiphase flow, rheology, tribology, aeroacoustics and fluid-structure interaction are all of interest, provided that computer technique plays a significant role in the associated studies or design methodology. Applications will be found in most branches of engineering and science: mechanical, civil, chemical, aeronautical, medical, geophysical, nuclear and oceanographic. These will involve problems of air, sea and land vehicle motion and flow physics, energy conversion and power, chemical reactors and transport processes, ocean and atmospheric effects and pollution, biomedicine, noise and acoustics, and magnetohydrodynamics amongst others. The development of numerical methods relevant to fluid flow computations, computational analysis of flow physics and fluid interactions and novel applications to flow systems and to design are pertinent to Computers & Fluids. The journal also accepts papers dealing with uncertainty quantification in fluid flow simulations, reduced-order and surrogate models for fluid flows, optimization and control. Papers dealing with machine learning approaches applied to fluid flow modeling are welcome, provided they show excellent scientific character. In particular, the authors are encouraged to perform comparisons with traditional numerical reconstruction methods, to provide a clear presentation of training vs validation cases, together with sufficient diversity in these cases, to analyze the physical consistency/theoreti... analysis of the ML model, and to discuss the limitations of the method as well as its merits.
