    • English
Electrochemical Applications of Metal -Organic Frameworks: Advances and Future Potential brings together the basics of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs and it's chemistry and electrochemistry), giving the reader an understanding of the complexities and possibilities of MOF electrochemistry. Providing in-depth coverage of various methods of the synthesis of MOFs for their electrochemical applications, the morphological and electrochemical properties of these materials are discussed along with their future development. Sections cover electrochemical applications of MOFs in batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells, as anti-corrosive materials, sensors and in electrocatalysis, and more.Recent developments in MOFs that can hold active molecules such as enzymes, bacteria, nanoparticles and promote electrochemical activity are included. This book will be of great interest to researchers and professionals working in industry and academia or anyone interested in the applications of MOF in industrial processes.

  • Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry IV

    • 4th Edition
    • Gerard Parkin + 2 more
    • English
Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry, Fifteen Volume Set is the market-leading resource covering all areas of this critical sub-discipline of chemistry. Divided into 15 clear sections, it provides expert coverage of the synthesis, structures, bonding and reactivity of all organometallic compounds, including the mechanisms of the reactions. Applications of organometallic chemistry, such as the role of these compounds as reagents and catalysts for organometallic transformations, and their participation in bioorganometallic chemistry, is then covered. This is a vibrant area, as illustrated by the fact that the 2001, 2005 and 2010 Nobel prizes in Chemistry are all concerned with organometallic chemistry. This new edition will therefore again provide an invaluable and efficient learning resource for all researchers and educators looking for up-to-date analysis of a particular aspect of organometallic chemistry.
  • "Venomous" Bites from "Non-Venomous" Snakes

    • 2nd Edition
    • Scott A Weinstein + 2 more
    • English
"Venomous" Bites from "Non-Venomous" Snakes, Second Edition thoroughly examines the potential hazards associated with bites by non-front-fanged snakes (popularly, but inaccurately, called "rear-fanged snakes"). This diverse group contains approximately 80% of living snake species (approximately 2,900 species). A large proportion of these snakes were previously assigned to the family Colubridae but, as a consequence of expanding systematics investigations, have been split into multiple families and subfamilies. Many of these snakes produce venoms or oral secretions that contain toxins and other biologically active substances. A large variety of non–front-fanged snakes figure in the pet industry, yet little documented information or formal study of their potential medical importance has been published. Therefore, although the possible medical importance of many of these species has been subjected to speculation since the mid-19th century, there is a limited amount of useful descriptive information regarding the real hazard (or lack thereof) of this wide variety of snakes. The first edition of this book provided "one-stop shopping" by offering information regarding their possible toxicity and clinical relevance as well as recommendations for medical management of their bites. The second edition expands and updates the content with detailed information about the effects and medical management of bites by a broad representation of non–front-fanged species. The hypothetical venomous nature of some lizards considered as non-venomous such as the Komodo monitor or dragon and their allies, as well as the medical effects of their bites, is also examined. The dynamic taxonomy of advanced snakes is updated, and the bases for some of these fluid changes are discussed. Likewise, terminology is also updated in order to reflect the ongoing debates regarding the definition of "venom" and the balanced reinforcement of nonmedical criteria used to define the biological basis of the term "venomous."
  • Reservoir Characterization of Tight Gas Sandstones

  • Nano-Enabled Technologies for Water Remediation

    • 1st Edition
    • Noel Jacob Kaleekkal + 2 more
    • English
Nano-Enabled Technologies for Water Remediation highlights several aspects of wastewater treatment using low-dimensional carbon-based materials. The book also focuses on advances in membrane-based separation, specifically on the pressure driven membrane process. In the case of membrane advances, the focus is exclusively on metal and metal oxide, mixed matrix membranes, GO, and CNT loaded membranes for targeted pollutant removal. Further, new and upcoming technologies of membrane preparation, via the electrospinning method, and advances in membrane distillation and wastewater remediation are discussed. In addition, the book includes coverage of recent advances occurring in sustainable technologies for wastewater remediation with bio-active nanomaterials, bio-inspired, and bio-templated nanomaterials which assist readers in gaining a new perspective for implementing nature-mimicked designs for water treatment and conservation.
