  • Electronic Universal Vade-Mecum

    • 1st Edition

    • English
Electronic Universal Vade-Mecum, Volume 1 considers the classification of about 15,000 types of electron devices into a number of groups. Each group includes similar devices irrespective of their marking and production origin. The group arrangement presented in this book has been devised according to a range principle, such as each group includes electron devices differing only insignificantly from those placed in neighboring groups. This indicates that any user of the vade-mecum can easily find all other types of identical or similar characteristics produced by various firms. Each group includes the following data: rated data, typical static data, dynamic (work) data, limiting values, system of socket and connection to circuit, envelope dimensions and certain electronic circuits particularly recommended for each individual group. Each group includes information pertaining to devices of different production periods. Such periods are distinguished by different type-print. Electron devices, mainly electron valves, dating from an early production period, are marked in italics, while commonly used devices are marked in ordinary type. Bold type is used for the most up-to-date and commonly used electron valves and semiconductor devices with particularly advantageous parameters. This book is of value to electronic engineers.

Single-Cell Protein: Safety for Animal and Human Feeding covers the proceedings of the Protein-Calorie Advisory Group of the United Nations System Symposium “Investigations On Single-Cell Protein,” held at the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche 'Mario Negri' Milan, Italy, on March 31 – April 1,1977. This text is divided into three parts. The first part discusses taxonomy and pathogenicity, including topics on strengths and weaknesses of traditional criteria in the systematics of yeasts; DNA relatedness between physiologically similar strains and species of yeasts; and studies of potential pathogenicity of industrial yeasts. This book then explains the models of pathogenicity for yeasts of the genus Candida, as well as the characteristics and comparative studies of this genus. Metabolism and toxicology of odd-numbered carbon chain fatty acids are also tackled, which is the main topic of the second part of this book. The last part is concerned mainly with the metabolism and toxicology of alkanes. This publication will be invaluable to chemists and students of chemistry and related disciplines.
  • Elementary Theory of Elastic Plates

The Commonwealth and International Library: Structures and Solid Body Mechanics Division

    • L. G. Jaeger
    • B. G. Neal
    • English
Elementary Theory of Elastic Plates deals with plate theory, particularly on the elastic behavior of initially flat thin plates subjected to loads, producing deflexions. This book discusses rectangular plates and circular plates subjected to different types of load conditions. This text describes the bending moment and curvature of beams, and gives the formula of principal axes, where the location of a neutral axis that experiences zero stress and strain, can be found. This book also notes how calculations can show small or negligible deflexions. The text discusses Possion's ratio effect and the Mohr's circle relationship. This text analyzes the various loads acting on different parts of the rectangular plate using the Navier method; the Levy's method is taken up when considerations are on other forms of boundary support on the rectangular plate. This book then addresses the circular plate that experiences bending moments and curvatures when it is placed under radially symmetric loads. This text explains the equation that is applicable in a radially symmetric case. This book also addresses understanding approximations of energy in stability problems when there is bending and twisting as shown in a strut with a certain thickness, radial length of the arms, and length of the strut. Engineers, physicists, architects, and designers of industrial equipment subject to heavy loads will appreciate the information found in this book.
