Materials Characterization
Materials Characterization features original articles and state-of-the-art reviews on theoretical and practical aspects of the structure and behaviour of materials. The Journal focuses on all characterization techniques, including all forms of microscopy (light, electron, acoustic, etc.,) and analysis (especially microanalysis and surface analytical techniques), and must include microstructural imaging. Developments in both this wide range of techniques and their application to the quantification of the microstructure of materials are essential facets of the Journal. While X-ray, spectroscopic, and mechanical behaviour measurements are all important aspects of characterization, they are not sufficient on their own to satisfy the scope of the journal. The Journal provides the Materials Scientist/Engineer with up-to-date information on many types of materials with an underlying theme of explaining the behavior of materials from a microstructural standpoint using novel and established characterization approaches. Materials covered by the journal include:1. Metals & Alloys2. Ceramics3. Biomedical materials (only metal or ceramic based)4. Composites (only metal or ceramic based)5. Nanomaterials with structural characterization as the focus of the workPlease note that not all topics or materials fall within the scope of Materials Characterization. Submissions focused on the topics listed below will not be considered for publication, potential alternative journals are indicated in brackets: i) layered bulk materials are included, but thin films are not (Thin Solid Films; Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing) ii) polymers or polymer composites (Elsevier polymer titles; Composites structures) iii) cementitious materials (Cement, Cement and Concrete Composites) iv) mechanical, electrical or other property measurements without any accompanying microstructural characterization (depending on the focus, please consider submitting to Corrosion Science; Wear; Materials Science & Engineering B; Materials & Design)v) computation, theory or analysis papers without an accompanying microstructural characterization component (Computational Materials Science; Materials Science & Engineering A; Materials Science & Engineering B; Materials Science & Engineering C)- ISSN: 1044-5803

Progress in Aerospace Sciences
Progress in Aerospace Sciences (JPAS) is an invitation-only international review journal of broad interest to researchers, engineers, and practitioners in aeronautics, astronautics, and aerospace engineering and science across research institutes, industry, and universities. The journal is devoted exclusively to invited critical review articles. As a general rule, papers should be as concise as possible and not exceed 100 pages. Authors are encouraged to provide specialist readers with an orderly and concise summary of recent work, with sufficient detail to inform general aerospace readers of developments beyond their own field. Each paper must critically review a minimum of 100 publications. The journal covers, but is not limited to, the following topics: Aeronautics (Atmospheric Flight): aerodynamics at all flight Mach numbers; gas dynamics; high-speed structures; flight mechanics; stability of flexible dynamic systems; materials; vibrations; aeroelasticity; acoustics; propulsion; avionics; attitude dynamics; guidance, navigation and control (GNC); autonomous flight; AI and machine learning; morphing systems; optimization; advanced computational and non-traditional simulation methods; flight testing; wind engineering; hydrodynamics; sustainable aviation fuels. Astronautics (Space Flight): astrodynamics; orbital and attitude guidance, navigation and control; on-board autonomy including physics-informed AI and machine learning; mission analysis and design; structures and mechanisms; planetary and orbital space robotics; space systems engineering; deployable structures and very large space systems; solar sails; innovation and technology transfer; human spaceflight; new space economy; space exploration. Aerospace (Atmospheric and Space Flight): aerospace sensors; control systems; software verification; uncertainties; avionics; trajectories; traffic management; acoustic noise control; artificial intelligence in aerospace; augmented solar sailcraft; propellantless propulsion; interplanetary mission architecture; planetary entry, descent, and landing (EDL). Article Types and Pre-Proposal Submission JPAS publishes invited critical review papers only. Authors with a review paper plan are welcome to submit a pre-proposal for suitability review and potential invitation by contacting ONLY ONE of the two editors below (in alphabetical order): Dr. Romano — marcelloromano.jpas@... Dr. Sarigul-Klijn — nsarigulklijn@ucdavi... Please begin the email subject line with JPAS.Duplicate submissions will not be reviewed. The decision of either editor is final. The initial submission must include: 1. The title and an abstract of at least 400 words. 2. A detailed table of contents. 3. The anticipated full manuscript submission date and the corresponding author's details. 4. A brief CV for all proposed co-authors, including a list of relevant publications and their affiliation and position.- ISSN: 0376-0421
